Why are healthy Kidneys so important? They act like a filter to remove wastes and extra fluid from your body. Your kidneys also get rid of acid that is made by your cells and maintain a healthy balance of minerals, salts, water, salts, such as potassium, sodium, calcium and phosphorus in your blood. If our kidneys stop functioning completely, our bodies fill with extra waste products and water. This health issue is known as uremia.
