Induce Lucid Dreams

How B Vitamins help induce Lucid Dreams

All these years and I only recently discovered this hack!. I tried this a few days in January and it worked, then it worked again this month so I can vouch for the method and share it. But actually the more I looked I realised quite a few people know this. Anyway let me share. Obviously lucid dreaming is the ability to be aware that you are dreaming and even control the dream’s narrative. I've always practiced techniques such as meditation, reality checks, and dream journaling to help induce one. Then in 2024 we found an alchemist who said he has a blended tincture he could make for us that works. I tried it and after a few times again it really did work, we actually have this on the site, it's imaginatively called Lucid Dream Tincture. Anyway let me explain why B Vits are working.

It's funny to think a simple vitamin supplement be the key to unlocking the subconscious mind. Even my frenemy science suggests there may be a connection. As a disclaimer I am saying I didn't only do B Vitamins, but I will try only with them, when I researched this I found lots of people only used B Vits. I didn't I carpet bombed my mind with different things to get me there. Exactly what I used was the reality checks method and mnemonic induction (MILD) alongside B vitamins and I did some of the Lucid Dreams Tincture in water, or was it Jilungin Tea, that stuff makes you dream. So does California Poppy, my friend Gemma messaged me this morning to tell me that actually.

Dream Enhancement

The Role of B Vitamins in Dream Enhancement

B vitamins are essential for brain function, energy metabolism, and neurotransmitter production. Several of these vitamins play a direct role in the synthesis of key chemicals involved in sleep, memory, and dreaming. Vitamin B6 – The most well-documented B vitamin for dream enhancement, B6 helps convert tryptophan into serotonin and serotonin into melatonin, both of which regulate sleep cycles. Studies suggest that B6 increases dream vividness, recall, and emotional intensity, which may contribute to greater lucidity. Vitamin B12 – B12 is essential for neurological function and memory. Some anecdotal reports suggest that B12 supplementation enhances dream clarity and increases the likelihood of remembering details upon waking. Vitamin B5 – Involved in the production of acetylcholine, a neurotransmitter that plays a key role in REM sleep and memory consolidation, B5 may help promote longer, more immersive dreams. Vitamin B9 – Important for brain function and mood regulation, B9 helps maintain healthy neurotransmitter levels and has been linked to more vivid and memorable dreams.

Scientific Evidence

Although (as always) the research is still emerging, some studies have investigated the link between B6 supplementation and dream intensity. A 2018 study published in Perceptual and Motor Skills found that participants who took 240mg of Vitamin B6 before bed reported significantly more vivid, bizarre, and memorable dreams compared to those who took a placebo. Some subjects even experienced more frequent lucid dreams, suggesting a potential role for B6 in enhancing dream awareness. Additionally, B vitamins influence REM sleep, the stage of sleep where most dreaming occurs. Higher acetylcholine levels, facilitated by B5 and B6, may lead to longer REM cycles, increasing the likelihood of lucid dreaming.

Lucid Dreaming

How to Use B Vitamins for Lucid Dreaming

So if you're interested in exploring lucid dreaming with B vitamins alone, as in just B Vits, here are some key points to consider:

1. Take B Vitamins Before Bed – Many lucid dreamers report success when taking B6, B5, or B12 30–60 minutes before sleep. However, B6 may disrupt sleep if taken in excessive amounts, so start with a lower dose (50-100mg) and adjust accordingly.

2. Pair with Dream Journaling – Writing down dreams upon waking improves dream recall, making it easier to notice patterns and increase self-awareness within dreams.

3. If you want to use dietary sources – While supplements can provide a concentrated dose, many B vitamins are naturally found in foods such as:

  • B6: Bananas, potatoes, poultry, and fortified cereals
  • B12: Fish, eggs, dairy, and meat
  • B5: Avocados, mushrooms, sunflower seeds
  • B9: Leafy greens, lentils, and citrus fruits

Other supplements that may enhance Lucid Dreaming

Beyond B vitamins, several natural supplements can support lucid dreams.

Choline & Alpha-GPC – Increases acetylcholine, extending REM sleep.

Galantamine – One of the most effective dream-enhancing supplements, often used in combination with WBTB.

5-HTP – Supports serotonin and melatonin production, influencing dream vividness.

The other ways to induce these Awakened Dreams...

Mastering Reality Checks

Reality checks are one of the most important habits for lucid dreaming. By regularly questioning whether you're awake or dreaming, you train your brain to recognise dream states. The following I think are the best Reality Checks for Lucid Dreaming.

Pinch Your Nose & Try to Breathe – In a dream, you’ll still be able to breathe through your pinched nose.

Look at Your Hands – Hands often appear distorted in dreams (extra fingers, blurry, or changing shapes).

Read & Re-Read Text – Words and numbers tend to shift in dreams. Look at a clock or a sentence, look away, and then check again—if it changes, you’re dreaming.

Jump & See if You Float – Gravity behaves oddly in dreams, so you may find yourself floating.

Push Your Finger Through Your Palm – In dreams, your finger might pass through your hand.

How to Use: Perform these reality checks at least 5–10 times per day. Eventually, your brain will start doing them in dreams, triggering lucidity.

Dream Journaling

A dream journal is a must-have tool for anyone serious about lucid dreaming. Writing down your dreams improves recall, pattern recognition, and self-awareness within dreams.

How to Keep a Dream Journal

Write Immediately After Waking Up – Dreams fade quickly, so jot down even small details as soon as possible.

Include Emotions, Colours & Themes – The more detailed, the better. Look for patterns over time.

Use Keywords If You’re Short on Time – Even a few key words or images will help you remember later.

Review Often – This strengthens your connection to the dream world, making lucid dreams more likely.

Sleep Hacks for Lucid Dreaming

Your sleep habits have a massive impact on lucid dreaming. Here are some optimisation tips to help:

Get 7–9 Hours of Quality Sleep – REM sleep (where most vivid dreams occur) happens in the latter part of the night, so adequate sleep is crucial.

Wake Up Naturally – Alarms can disrupt dream recall. Try waking up gently without an alarm when possible.

Use Binaural Beats – Frequencies in the theta range (4–8 Hz) and delta range (0.5–4 Hz) can induce dream-like states. Listen to binaural beats before bed.

Use Aromatherapy – Scents like mugwort, lavender, and peppermint are believed to enhance dream clarity.

Optimise Your Sleep Environment – Keep your room dark, quiet, and cool to encourage deeper sleep cycles.

The Wake-Back-to-Bed (WBTB) Method
I realised I mentioned this at the start without even saying what it stood for. So WBTB stands for Wake-Back-to-Bed. The method is one of the most effective ways to trigger lucid dreams. It involves waking up during the night and going back to sleep with focused intention.

How to Do WBTB for Lucid Dreaming

Set an Alarm – Wake up 4–6 hours after falling asleep (during REM sleep).

Stay Awake for 15–45 Minutes – Read about lucid dreaming, meditate, or journal.

Go Back to Sleep With Lucid Dreaming in Mind – Repeat a mantra like “I will realise I am dreaming.”

Enter a Dream Consciously – Try not to move much when going back to sleep; let yourself drift directly into a dream.

Why It Works: You’re going back to sleep directly into a REM cycle, where dreams are most vivid, increasing your chances of becoming lucid.

Mnemonic Induction of Lucid Dreams (MILD)

The MILD technique is all about using memory and intention to cue lucidity in your dreams. These are what I think are the best steps to use MILD for Lucid Dreaming.

As you’re falling asleep, repeat a phrase like: “The next time I dream, I will realise I am dreaming.” Then visualise yourself becoming lucid in a dream.

Then of course as with everything you want... Believe it will happen – Self-expectation plays a huge role.

Why It Works: Repeating a thought just before sleep primes your subconscious to trigger lucidity when dreaming.

The Wake-Back-to-Bed

The Wake-Initiated Lucid Dream (WILD) Method

This is an advanced technique where you enter a lucid dream directly from wakefulness. I must admit I haven't tried this, however I will, I found multiple people said they used it, so why not try it.

Steps to Perform WILD
Lie completely still as you drift to sleep, keeping your mind awake but body asleep.
Watch for hypnagogic imagery – colourful patterns or sensations of floating.
Stay calm as sleep paralysis sets in (this is normal).
Transition into a lucid dream.

Why It Works: WILD allows you to consciously step into a dream, making it one of the most powerful lucid dreaming techniques.

Meditation & Mindfulness for Lucid Dreams

Lucid dreamers often have high levels of self-awareness, which meditation strengthens. Types of Meditation for Lucid Dreaming could be.

Mindfulness Meditation – Trains the brain to notice dream cues.

Yoga Nidra – Helps enter a dream-like state while awake.

Visualisation Meditation – Rehearse becoming lucid in a dream.

Regular meditation strengthens dream recall and awareness, making lucid dreaming more frequent.

For centuries, various cultures have turned to plants and roots to calm the mind, combat insomnia, and unlock the mysteries of prophetic dreaming. These sacred botanicals have been used to facilitate out-of-body experiences and heighten awareness within the dream world. It features some pretty amazing stuff, but remember back up I did recommend some supplements too if you wanna go full on crazy into the dream world.

Blue Lotus – A revered plant known for its ability to deepen spiritual connection, Blue Lotus acts as a guide through the dream realm. It promotes relaxation and inner peace, allowing for a smoother and more profound lucid dreaming experience.

Mugwort – Long associated with lucid dreaming, Mugwort is believed to enhance dream recall and clarity. Often linked to protective feminine energy, it provides a sense of weightless freedom, allowing dreamers to ‘fly’ through their subconscious landscapes.

Burdock – A powerful ally for detoxification, Burdock works in harmony with the liver to clear stagnant toxins, which can impact sleep quality. It has traditionally been used to transform unsettling dreams into positive experiences while purifying the blood.

Ginkgo Biloba – This ancient tree has been revered for centuries for its connection to wisdom and mental clarity. Monks have used it to enhance meditation, memory, and focus—making it invaluable for recalling dreams in vivid detail.

Vervain – A sacred herb known for its role in prophecy and spiritual guidance. Vervain is believed to surface deep-seated emotions and insights, helping dreamers process subconscious issues in a safe and nurturing way. Used during the day, it also promotes relaxation and emotional balance.

It's a help on a natural pathway to enriched and conscious dreaming. I had vivd dream last night, it just happened, sometimes these Lucid Dreams just happen, but next time one does happen (unassisted) re-trace your steps and see if there was anything you did differently that night that helped it happen. Now go forth and dream big, Tom
